So I've spent quite a lot of time in my car the last few days. And apparently when I spend a lot of my time in my car, I start making up stories around the songs I'm hearings. This song happens to be on the same CD as "Edge of Seventeen" which I'd been craving for days before I located the CD. Letting things play out I ended up with version of this.
It's a whim, a self-indulgent whimsy. It's not a request, it's not a plea, it's not anything, but a minor amusement. In fact, when I started it, I tried with "Frankie" but it just didn't work so it became...
Oh, Lyssa, say a prayer for me,
Ali's back at School it won't be easy.
Don't let her near me.
Don't let her touch me.
Don't let her please me.
Ali, I won't cut fresh flowers for you,
No, Ali, I won't make the wine cold for you,
No, Ali, I won't change the sheets for you,
I won't loosen my scowl,
I won't wait for an Owl from you.
Molly, keep reminding me how she cut out my heart like a paper doll,
Cissa, tell me once again how she threw books at me, just to see me fall.
Ali, I won't cut fresh flowers for you,
No, Ali, I won't make the wine cold for you,
No, Ali, I won't change the sheets for you,
I won't loosen my scowl,
I won't wait for an Owl from you.
Ali, quick come here, I won't tell a soul not even myself
Ali, that you've come back to me.
My friends will all say "He's gone again."
But how can anyone know what you are to me,
That I'm in heaven again because you've come back to me, Oh, Ali.
Ali, I'll always cut fresh flowers for you,
Oh, Ali, I'll always make the wine cold for you,
Oh, Ali, I could easily change my mind about you,
And wipe off my scowl,
And wait for an Owl from you.
Ali, lets open the wine,
And drink to the heart, which has a will of its own.
My friends, lets comfort them,
They're feeling bad. They think I've sunk so low.
Oh, Ali, I always cut fresh flowers for you,
And Ali, I will make the wine cold for you,
Oh, Ali, and I will change the sheets for you,
And I'll put on a smile,
And I'll wait for an Owl from you.
Oh, Ali.
So I wanted to get that down before I lost it.
Also on my mind for future topics is:
- The transitory nature of ideas
- The futility of shopping under a curse
- The age old question of where the money goes
- The topic of how friends are made
and I hope these oblique references are enough to jog my memory later if I ever get time to actually write the matching posts up.
