Forever afternoon

I don't know why they keep showing up. Carla was telling us last night about this dream had with Bobby Flay, so I guess I should be greatful.
Anyway, we had been waiting for like 4 hours to have lunch and we finally ate, and when we were done it was time to meet some friends in town for a birthday dinner, which of course, we were NOT hungry for. When we got the restaurant, it was all set up for us, and there were 30$ vouchers at each of our places "For purchase of food items only, not merchandise, or...something else." Her dad (the girl who's birthday party it was, Neeli, I think) had broken into her safety deposit box and left her 200$ and an cut, unset sapphire for her birthday present. The $200 was to throw herself a party, and she used it to fund the vouchers. Hoppie was trying to convince me we should hold the vouchers to use later to rent mooring time on the restaurant dock, and I was trying to explain to him that while I had no problem holding rather than using the voucher, it couldn't be used for anything other than food. Then we left the party and went across the street to see Penn and Teller doing a show. The first part was Penn ranting about something or other. The management treated us like we were royalty because we were with the Ambassador's party. (I think that might have been Neeli's father.) and that was fabulous. Normally I like low-key, but it was amazing being catered to like that. They put us in the front row, Penn talked to us directly during his rant, it was fun. And then the party came over, and the management was concerned they would take exception to Penn's ranting, and I went to speak to the ambassador, while Penn went off another rant about how he had to stiffle his free speech to make room for other people's sensibilities, and he didn't have to put up with that. I talked to the ambassador and "smoothed things over," and the ambassador told me I'd made all the difference and he wouldn't take any action against Penn, and I laughed, because I realized he had never had any intention of doing anything short of enjoying the show. I, of course, told people it was because of me, although the way I said it, hoppie knew it wasn't. We sat down to watch the show and Teller brought Heather over for hoppie to hold on his lap while the show was on.
Then Penn and Teller continued the show with some dancers and magic tricks. Then we went over to the lobby area and played with the kids, Heather and Nat and my family was there. Then I woke up.

I love Valvoline Instant Oil Change. They didn't fix my problem, but they looked for it. I asked them to check the oil because my car is making a funny noise, and they didn't find anything wrong with that, so I was going to wander off and the girl tech (I LOVE that Valvoline has girl techs. I don't know why, but both of my favorite VIOCs have female techs and I love having girls work on my car.) asked if she could check the transmission fluid and maybe that was making the noise. I was a pint low and she made them check for leaks while I cycled through the gears. Okay, that wasn't the problem, but it really makes me feel better knowing they checked. I'm so much happier with my oil changes now that I switched from Jiffy Lube. And before you menfolk get all huffy and puffy, I did my own oil changes in college. I have not regretted switching to professional help. Maybe when the kids are old enough to learn how to do it, I'll do with them, but until then, happy to pay someone. That's what being an American is all about.

Boris: So what's the deal with Lanna? Is she going on vacation?
Blinky: No, she's leaving the company.
Boris: Is she going somewhere new and exciting?
Emma: Yes. Home.
Blinky: She wants to be a full-time mother, for a time.
Emma: Well, it's not exactly new.
Boris: I would say it's not exactly exciting either, but I do not want to face that karate chop.

Sometime later a faint yip is heard.

Emma: What was that?
Blinky: (Looks exasperated) Someone just had to post this conversation to her blog so Lanna heard the "not exactly exciting" comment and went off to exact revenge.
Solies: And this is why I refuse to talk to people at work.

I Am A: Chaotic Good Elf Ranger Bard

Chaotic Good characters are independent types with a strong belief in the value of goodness. They have little use for governments and other forces of order, and will generally do their own things, without heed to such groups.

Elves are the eldest of all races, although they are generally a bit smaller than humans. They are generally well-cultured, artistic, easy-going, and because of their long lives, unconcerned with day-to-day activities that other races frequently concern themselves with. Elves are, effectively, immortal, although they can be killed. After a thousand years or so, they simply pass on to the next plane of existance.

Primary Class:
Rangers are the defenders of nature and the elements. They are in tune with the Earth, and work to keep it safe and healthy.

Secondary Class:
Bards are the entertainers. They sing, dance, and play instruments to make other people happy, and, frequently, make money. They also tend to dabble in magic a bit.

Solonor Thelandria is the Chaotic Good elven god of archery and the hunt. He is also known as the Keen Eye, the Great Archer, and the Forest Hunter. His followers respect nature, and only hunt when needed, but are quick to defend the forest from intruders. Their favorite weapon is the bow, and they tend to be extremely talented with it. Solonor Thelandria's symbol is an arrow with green fletchings.
