February 16th, 2005

03:15 pm - The ups and the downs of Boston sports.
Me: So, no more hockey.
Solies: *sigh*
Me: Looks like you picked a good year to switch to English Premier League Soccer.
Solies: Go Big Blues!
Me: I heard an interesting statistic.
Solies: Yes?
Me: Red Sox win the World Series in 1918. In 1919, the Stanley Cup tournament is cancelled for a particularly virulent and deadly influenza outbreak. Red Sox win the World Series again in 2004. In 2005, the Stanley Cup Tournment is cancelled for a particularly virulent and deadly outbreak of rampant greed and mismanagement.
Solies: What an interesting statistic. Did the Patriots win the Superbowl in 1918 and 1919?
Me: Um, no.
Solies: Then I fail to see the connection. I expect a refund for my wasted time.
Me: sighs All I have is tortilla chips.
Solies: Are they blue?
Me: No.
Solies: No deal. I walk away scornfully.
Me: Well, fine.
I turn around and after a few seconds reach into my desk for the other bag of corn chips. They are obviously made of blue corn.
Me: Heh heh heh. Now I don't have to share.
Solies: I'm standing right here.
Me: You! But you walked away scornfully! I, um...
Solies: I never actually walked away.
Me: Curses! Foiled again.
Current Mood: curiouscurious
