Talked to dad last night. He said there are two ways to go. If I want to be all scary and lawyerly, I can file a motion in court for a declaration to clarify the law.
If I want to be all consumerly, I can mail the insurance company a letter asking for preauthorization of services, should they be deemed necessary my doctor. In the letter, I should state that I believe their written policy is in violation of the Massachusetts health insurance statutes (citing appropriately) and requesting that their governing body review my case. I believe that's probably what HR is doing right now.
