Media-oriented dreams

In the first dream of the night, I was watching Monk go undercover in a dating service who's clients mysteriously turned up dead. Most of the dream took place in a park, and Monk was concerned that Detective Lassiter (?) would resent his interference so he was running his investigating separately from the department, although Stottlemeyer knew he was invesigating.

He was paired up romantically with another undercover operative. The focus of the dream follows the undercover operative home from a "date" in the park. He's in the shower trying to wash himself of the taint of dating a man when his wife comes in. She's not supposed to be there while he's on this assignment in case he's followed, and the dream proves out the reason why. He is followed and the guy who runs the dating service exposes him (so to speak) and shoots his wife in the back of the head. He's to report on Monk and lead the villain to him or the villain will kill his mother too. And then I woke up.

Then I was wide awake for awhile and had this conversation with hoppie, who being sick, can't sleep right. He was thirsty and I was sleepless so I went downstairs to get us both some water. Because I have a vague preference for bottled water in bed (which is less likely to spill), I went to the basement to get two bottles of water which I brought back up. Then we had a discussion that went something like this:
Me: Do you need any more?
Hoppie: No, drinking 16 ounces of water is probably enough.
Me: Oh, is that how big they are?
Hoppie: Something like that.
Me: Probably between 12 and 16 anyway.
Hoppie: Something like that.
Me: (straining to read the lable in the dark)) .5 L
Hoppie: So about 16.9 ounces.
Me: So between 12 and 20 ounces then.
Hoppie: No, you were right the first time.
Me: Between 12 and 16. No.
Hoppie: Yes, it's 16....(long pause) Oh, I see what you mean. Fine, so between 12 and 20 then.

Eventually, I got back to sleep and had this rather disjointed dream.

There was a bunch of us and we were going to a building behind a dentist's office. Actually, it looked a little like my old university grounds but going up the wrong way down one of the one way streets. Anyway, we found a handicapped parking space and everyone went their own ways. I confirmed that our handicap parking sticker was valid and then reminded all the people (who were now hanging out in a two story open mall with cafe tables and stores and things, that the dentist appointments were back to back starting at noon (or 2.) After that was all setup, I wandered past the dentist's building, and down a lane with hoppie and one of his friends who was walking slightly in front os us. There was a lake (or large river, more like) running by the lane we were walking down. I saw what looked like a car flipping into the river. I tried to tell hoppie who was talking with his friend, but then we came in sight of it, and it turned out to be a large ship that was being righted and towed by a tug boat.

Over the loudspeaker, someone announced that Jason Salkey [the guy pictures in my icon] was going to be appearing at the Blue Sperm (which I assume was some type of nightclub with a marine theme) in NY. I asked hoppie if we could go. [He no longer looked like hoppie or sounded like him, he looked and sounded like Jason Salkey, although obviously he wasn't.] He said we could move to NY. I realized it wasn't hoppie, I think, but my dream self accepted that it must have been a new relationship because I replied, "I don't know if I love you enough to move to NY with you." and I was dead serious, which makes the waking me VERY amused.

The Jason/Hoppie laughed and talked with his friend about how amusing I was. And then I woke up.

And I picked up the new TiVo from FedEx this morning.
