|05:56 pm - Just off the horn with Maya|
Here's what we know:
Services have been gently placed so as not to interfere with the Super bowl or the Jewish Sabbath. More details are here:
Maya is doing okay. The doctors gave her some sleeping pills and that's helped. Her mother loaned her a cat and that has helped alot. She loves all of us and is amazed and overwhelmed by the love that she's receiving.
The official cause of death is smoke inhalation. Faeryn is going down with a friend to positively ID the body. They've also recovered the body of one of the cats, Max. Garrett has buried the body.
On a personal note, I'm a little bowled over by the amount of response from everyone who knew Greg, no matter how slightly. I'm blessed to know you all.
Thank you for being incredible people.
Edit: I forgot to mention that I have Maya's address now and permission to post it.

I feel like I am one of those people who didn't know him all that well, especially for having met him almost 20 years ago. You definitely knew him better than I did.
I'm a moron. What I meant to say is that we're taking a suitcase of stuff down which we fully intend to check. Feel free to send it with us.
Sweet!! I will get it to you this week.
I've just added you to my f-list so I can keep up with any information you have about Greg's family or a memorial gathering. As far as I can tell, we don't know each other, but we both knew Greg.
Which is a good enough recommendation to get into any just about anywhere. I'm sorry we couldn't meet under happier circumstances.
Smoke inhalation ... Small consolation as it is, it's a relief to know he didn't burn to death.
Way sucks to have gotten back in touch with you this way, but it is a nice reminder of how wonderful people are, even if only in your life for a fleeting moment. I'm trying to get my package together for tomorrow. Peepercat also sends virtual purrs and love to everyone. He's quite the therapycat.
I think I was bitten in the butt by the fact that I read lj so quickly. If I'd been bit slower, I might have noticed you posting in the thread that contains the picture in my next post and we'd have been in touch ages ago. But maybe the timing was wrong.
I am so sorry for your loss - I was away from my computer for four days and didn't read my Friends List until tonight.
*hugs* You and your friends are in my prayers.
