|10:45 am - Derek Jeter?|
I'm having a hard time getting over the fact that I dreamt about Derek Jeter, but I suppose it could have been worse.
I was out somewhere. It was outside, it was spring with full trees and flowers and slight breezes going on. That was wonderful! I'm wearing like a Tampa Bay Devil Rays jersey or something like that. And this guy walks up to me and says, "You'd look really good in Yankee blue."
You can imagine how that went over. I turned to explain to this guy that I don't wear Yankee blue, and it was Derek Jeter.
So not wanting to hurt his feelings, since it is his job to care about the Yankees, I politely sluffed it off and we started talking and he proposed a bet on I don't remember if it was a single game bet, or a win/loss record bet, but if I lost the bet, I'd add Yankee Blue to my baseball wardrobe.
"Well, what happens if I win?" I asked. He grinned like that would never happen, and asked, "What do you want?"
I thought about it for moment and was stumped. He already donates money and time to various charities so that seemed out of place. "I'm actually a Red Sox fan. If I win, you wear my Red Sox hat." So we agreed on a duration. 3 is sticking in my head, but whether it's 3 hours, 3 days, 3 months, or none of the above is eluding me.
So we made plans to meet up the next day. Other people were impressed and seemed to think he was "interested" in me and there seemed to be a feeling that I should have told him I was married. But I'm wearing my rings. It's not like it's not obvious. So the next day, I went to meet him and resolve the bet issue. I wasn't sure if I should mention I was married. I felt, honestly, like it wasn't an issue. So I didn't.
Meanwhile, people kept coming up to us, my friends especially to drool over Derek. One of them came up and was talking to me, ignoring him, so he started teasing her good naturedly.
"Do you know who I am?" Derek asked. He was wearing the Yankee home uniform.
"Um...Enrique something, right? Wilson?" She teased back. (Enrique Wilson is a utility infielder who played with the Yankees from 2001-2004. Why my dream decided to pick on him, I couldn't tell you.)
"Yes. I'm Enrique Wilson. So glad you recognized me. I look just like this!"
This is Enrique Wilson (I don't understand why he's in a Boston uniform.)
This is Derek Jeter
As you can see plainly, though, they look nothing alike, even in these awful pictures. I don't know if it's clear from the conversation, but my friend knew very well who Derek was and he knew she knew.
During my conversation with Derek, I did tell him about my cousin Jonathan who has the major Yankee love. I think he was pleased.
I do not know who won the bet. But suffice it to say that I'm not currently wearing Yankee Blue.
