So hoppie's xmas Battlestar Galactica set arrived, The cover Cylon Centurion looks incredible on our DVD shelf. So I started watching the pilot yesterday and finished it this morning. In the back of my head, I hear it while I'm doing other things. I like the idea of Cylon programming changing over time, of course sentient robots would evolve as much as we do. And Baltar's colony, did he realize he was living over a parasitic species? He must have, what was he expecting? That he would own them and designate food for them? His own little Morlock senario. So now having seen them both, the original definitely is better. Maybe I should say different but more enjoyable. I prefer the lack of tension between Apollo and Cmmd. Adama. And I like the political stirrings better in the old one. I like that democracy and the usual political infighting exists despite the collapse of the universe. It's definitely more believable then that the last surviving presidental cabinet member takes over the governent and synchronizes relatively well with the military. (and I hear David's voice in the back of my mind saying "scientists have always been pawns of the military!") There are 6 conversations going on in this meeting. I have no idea what to pay attention to. Now's it's eased back to one. I hope the commentary track is worthwhile. The only thing I don't like is the double-sided disk. I hate double-sided dvds. If I wanted to flip the disk upsidedown, I'd have invested in laser disk.
